Araghchi criticizes US senator’s contacts with Israeli officials over Iran military action

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reacted to reports on how US Senator Lindsey Graham has pushed for his country’s military action against Iran, including his contacts with Israeli officials to “coach” them on how to lobby Washington for the action.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reacted to reports on how US Senator Lindsey Graham has pushed for his country’s military action against Iran, including his contacts with Israeli officials to “coach” them on how to lobby Washington for the action.

In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, Araghchi wrote: “In Iran, an official could never travel to another country to collude with a foreign spy service on how to ‘coach’ our own President into doing bidding of foreigners. We would ask what the foreign country may have on that official. And promptly charge him/her with High Treason.”

Senator Graham traveled several times to Israel in recent weeks to help make the case on Iran, meeting with members of Israeli spy agency, according to American media.

“They’ll tell me things our own government won’t tell me,” he said.

Graham also said he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “coaching” him on how to lobby US President Donald Trump for action.

According to Graham, Netanyahu presented intelligence to US President Donald Trump that helped persuade Trump to move forward.

The United States and Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran on February 28, assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and top military commanders, despite indirect nuclear negotiations taking place between Tehran and Washington.

The two regimes have also killed more than 1,200 civilians, including children, and attacked non-military sites, among them schools and hospitals.

Within the framework of its legitimate response, the Iranian Armed Forces immediately initiated decisive missile and drone strikes against US bases in the region and targets in Israel.
